1. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, better known as GDPR, is the framework regulation in the European Union governing the processing of personal data. It applies from May 25, 2018 and establishes:

Fundamental principles such as transparency, integrity, and accountability.

Rights of data subjects (access, rectification, erasure, portability, opposition and limitation of processing).

Obligations for controllers and processors.

2. Organic Law on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD).
Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, adapts the GDPR to the Spanish legal framework and adds specific national provisions. Its key aspects are:

It complements the RGPD in areas such as data processing in the workplace and the protection of minors.

It introduces additional safeguards for digital rights, such as digital disconnection in the work environment.

Specifically regulates the use of video surveillance systems, credit information systems and internal complaints (ethical channels).
